One could only imagine my nightmarish journey to the airport. As you know, flying with two kids on your own is no cake walk....even if everything does go smoothly. It all started with trying to find a ride to the airport. Somehow, Blake booked my flight on a day that NO ONE could take me to the airport. Like, NO ONE. A flight change was $250 & so we decided as a last resort that we would use the Salt Lake Express to take me + my girls to the airport. You know, the little buses that shove as many people as you can imagine?...yeah, that. Trying to put carseats in that bus is beyond me. As the minutes ticked & creepy mass murderer driver tried to help, we finally got the carseats installed & were on our way. Blake had called Delta a few days prior to make sure someone would be there & waiting when the bus dropped me off to help me with my stroller, 2 carseats, 2 suitcases, & two children. As the bus sped off, I waited & waited & waited for some help. Finally, I called Delta & they said they would send someone right out. I waited & waited & waited & waited. No one. Not a single person. So, doing what all fed up moms would do, I strapped Penny onto me, loaded the carseats in the stroller, put London to work pulling one suitcase, & I pushed the stroller filled with carseats & pulled the other suitcase. I'm sure we were a sight. I roll up to the counter relieved & start checking in. "Um, ma'am, I cannot let you fly today, your drivers license has been expired for 7 months." Hit my face with a thousand bricks....what??? Tears immediately dripped out of my eyes & I lost what little pride I had left & utterly begged the lady. The thought of waiting at the airport until someone could come get me & then the thought of doing this all again had me all out of sorts. "Ma'am, I can see you are clearly upset, let me go talk with my manager & we will see what we can do for you." I called Blake in tears. What seemed like 2 hours later & in reality probably only about 5 minutes later, I was free to fly. The relief......
We spent countless hours at this splash pad this past summer. Heaven only knows how much I despise the summer heat & so this was the perfect spot for us to get out of the apartment + cool down. A very convenient heat wave decided to grace Minot for the 3.5 weeks I was there. Go figure that back home they had a cold spell for 3.5 weeks while I was gone. Ha! Just my luck. The splash pad was located at a lovely little park filled with trees & it had a playground that I would have only dreamed of as a little girl.
