My very most favorite Christmas tradition that actually started when I taught 1st grade & has carried out every year since. Nothing tastes more like Christmas to me than biting into a warm gingerbread molasses cookie. The slight taste of bitter + the smooth & soft texture. Yum! AND, London actually likes them too... which is a huge deal for my pastry hater.
Making them this year was extra fun because Penny was finally old enough to enjoy helping. London's famous 'serious concentration' face was in full force as she carefully cut out each cookie from the brown dough + then again when she decorated every cookie with M&M's, icing, & sprinkles. Penny was the best helper at test tasting everything. The flour, the cookies, the icing, the M&M's were all taste approved by Penny.
It was such a lovely afternoon spending time in the kitchen with my girls.
