A rough start + the winner creek trail

Saturday's are always l o n g because Blake works from sunup to sundown.  Saturdays are usually the days that we plan a bigger adventure to do to take up some time.  Sage + I loaded up our girls + headed to Girdwood.  Halfway there, Penny got carsick + threw up EVERYWHERE.  Thank goodness Sage had some extra clothes.  A car about hit us when we finally made it to our lunch place & the restaurant didn't accept cash (which of course neither of us had, go figure!)  We were about to just call it quits & head back home when we hopped on Yelp & we found ourselves having the most incredible breakfast at this quaint little cottage up in the mountains.  Jacksprat was the restaurant name....cut huh? That eggs Benedict with smoked salmon!  Holy cow.  Amazing.

We were revved back up + ready for an adventure.  I hopped on my trusty Alaska App & found a trail called the winner creek trail!  Boy am I glad we hiked that trail.  This hike was seriously straight out of the shire (hobbit vile) there have been only a handful of times where nature has literally brought me to tears. That day, it happened twice. Not even joking. We hiked 5 miles through some incredibly beautiful forest, over some breath taking rivers + waterfalls that had the bluest river water I've ever seen (glacier fed) & when we finally reached the top of the mountain/hike, we got to get in a little box (hand tram) & some other nice hikers pulled us across the river + canyon (you can pull yourself if there isn't other hikers available). It was like a Disneyland ride x 1000. The adrenaline rush of cascading over a raging river & dense forest was unlike anything I've ever experienced. A mental picture + experience I will never ever forget for the rest of my life & we got to do it TWICE because we had to get back & hike back down the mountain. Holy smokes!
I'll just forget that I forgot to grab my water for the hike.  Oops!
