This day was so much fun, but, the thing that stood out to me the very most was the strengthening of my testimony + the power of prayer.
We rolled into Kenai really late + we were hauling things in the house & trying to get the girls all ready for bed. Somewhere in the midst of everything, I realized I had lost the van keys somewhere. We seriously searched through every bag, every suitcase, retraced every step, we searched high + low for about an hour. I went over in the corner & said a prayer that I would know what I did with the keys when I got into the house. As clear as day, I remember exactly what happened. Penny had thrown up just before we got there from car sickness & when I was cleaning up all the garbage in the van after we arrived at the house, I remember sticking the keys in the garbage bag that had all the throw up, garbage, etc..... AND THEN I threw that bag away in the garbage. I walked right over to the garbage after my prayer + pulled the keys right out. Why did I not think to pray earlier? What a testimony builder that was for me + the knowledge that prayer does work + all of our small worldly problems are important to Heavenly Father too.
After an awesome night of listening to the ocean + having the cool ocean air stream in through the windows, we had the best breakfast EVER. Our host made us fried halibut, halibut bites, rhubarb syrup on toast, & eggs. The perfect start to a really fun day!
We hit up about every beach access + our collection of rocks proves it! We explored the Kenai river (that blue is something out of a dream), russian churches, + walked along a random meadow to a cliff overlook of the ocean. We were able to hike up to Russian River Falls & watch the salmon run UP the waterfall. We cheered when a salmon would make it, and sigh when a salmon would get washed back down. The whole life cycle + process of a salmon is so amazing. That process in + of itself testifies to me that there is a God. Amazing to say the least.
When we arrived at the beach house that night, the water turned off on me while I was showering AND I had just soaped all up + had conditioner all over in my hair. Woof! The yummy salmon that Steve grilled up made up for it though & eventually the owner got the water turned back on + I was able to re shower.
