A hike I still regret bringing my girls on. I didn't realize how slippery + dangerous this hike was until we were on it. It was a crowded day on the mountain + all the fellow hikers were saying how awesome it was that London was hiking it. They were giving her encouragement + rallying us on. So, I thought it was safe enough. (the first half is actually safe + ok...the second half you have to rock climb up with no apparent trail ) We all slipped a few times on the way up....but, going up is way easier than going down + by the time we made it to the top, I turned around + realized I'd made a huge mistake by bringing my girls on it. The way back down took us twice as long + I was sweating my body off because I was so tense + terrified that London would slip or that I would slip with Penny on my back. Both London's + I's hands were white because I was holding her hand so hard. Needless to say, I breathed a sigh of relief when we finally made it back down to the car.
I would have actually enjoyed the hike if I didn't have my girls with me. London is a great hiker + she actually did fine...but, I was a nervous wreck with the thought of one slip + she's rolling down a rocky mountain. My mother in law is such a trooper + hiked the whole thing too. She is a good travel buddy!
BUT, we did get to see a bear out our window of the van on our way up to the hike. We could have reached out our hand + touched it! We didn't of course. So amazing.
